Pastel & Space Lights

Alvina wears:

Pinkii mint maxi dress
BWN tee
Bally rucksack
Therapy ankle boots

I felt like a bit of an elf, wandering around in soft pastel tones .. They clashed with the angsty and fluorescent neon lights of the city. The crowds were going off that night as the streets of Sydney prepped itself for a festive street parade for Chinese New Year =). Anyways hope you all have a festive week ahead =) xoxo

a moment to remember

Anna wears Marcs camel silk shirt

Rather than for the purpose of capturing our outfits, we took some photos on this day because 1) It was our first moment with a new camera (the difference in quality is incredible, considering we used an iphone before), and 2) George St (a very very busy street for those who haven’t heard of it) was blocked off and we wanted to capture the moment when we stood smack bang in the middle of it, although you can also do this on NYE! At first we were a little confused when we came out of QVB and saw people sitting and lying down on the street, when there should be a million cars going past… we thought there was an accident of some sort! It was actually for a parade.

Rapid Print

Alvina wears:

Ribbon from a gift
Ted Baker dress/long top
SES black skirt
Therapy ankle boots
Oggi Domani satchel
Cicada ring from the markets

Doesn’t the print on my dress, echo the fast paced background behind me? Although Ted Baker may have had something completely different in mind, personally, the prints of the blocked lines remind me of our rapid, ever changing and constructed sky scraper filled city. Let’s slow down everyone =) have a chilled week! xoxo

These boots were made for walking

Anna wears:

Marcs striped top and shorts
One Teaspoon vest
Mulberry Bayswater bag
Mimco bracelet
Giraffe necklace from stall under Westfield CBD
Tony Bianco boots
Sportsgirl sunnies

These boots are like flats. Honestly I could walk around all day and probably only start to feel the need to sit down at the end of the day. And even with flats I feel the same way. I’m glad I bought them since I had wanted a pair of low heel ankle boots (not black!) for some time. I contemplated saving a bit more and buying a pair of Isabel Marant ‘dicker’ boots, but sorta just gave in to temptation early. Although I haven’t yet given up on the dicker boots, as i’ve only heard good things about them!

I have to say I am not a sunglasses person. I cannot justify paying a lot for a pair of sunnies. I don't think they suit me, so I opt for cheapo ones that I wouldn't really mind if I lost or broke (these were $30? $40?). I really wish I could wear a greater variety though, especially when I see photos of people looking all chic and classy with their awesome sunnies!

@minhhai

We met up with our high school friends and headed to the closest Vietnamese restaurant named MINH HAI on George St for a quick meal.

I’m not quite sure what type of laksa this was. It had prawns, chicken, tofu, and just about anything else you can think of. Possibly a combination laksa? Anyway, it was almost enough to fill two people, because the servings were huge (not just for this, but everything else as well). I wasn’t very hungry but I still enjoyed it, because it had the pleasant laksa taste, with the delicious coconut flavour.

There is not much i can say about this dish, as i have tasted various versions of this dish in countless Vietnamese restaurants. This one specifically however, did not stand out for me. It was too dry, the veggies didn’t have that fresh “zing” and the sauce was nothing spectacular. It did fill up my tummy but I can only sit on the fence for this one.

limitless, timeless

Anna wears:

Marcs dress
Wittner wedges
Princess Polly necklace

Everytime I wear this dress I feel so ladylike, most likely because it's quite long and I can twirl around in it. Although I don't think ladies twirl.. To make it a bit more modern and edgy, I added a spikey necklace and sky high wedges. But i'm pretty sure pointy pumps would have done the trick in keeping with the ultra feminine theme. Next time!

@daejanggeum

We both weren't feeling well so decided we needed some hot soup to relax and warm us up. The best choice? Korean soup!

Ahhhh (in a soothing tone not screaming), the most welcoming dishes of Korean restaurants, free side dishes with free re-fills =)

Fish roe soup

Yumm..I want some right now! This is quite a generous serving because I couldn’t finish it, and I do eat quite a bit. Being the very cool summer that it was (now you can tell how long ago this was..), this warm soup was perfect for a hearty dinner. I think I ate too much of the side dishes though…we Alvina had to keep asking for refills!

Soft tofu soup

Lovely, moist, soft, crumbly pieces of tofu flying around the spicy tangy soup. Mmmm, this was a highly appropriate choice for the day as I was already feeling unwell (One more trigger of dense food for Anna & I and it could of been a path to indigestion).

CAPE me

Alvina wears:

Backstage cape
Sweet heart singlet top
69 jeans
Aldo heels
Vintage Escada suede handbag
So Good necklace

I love the drape of the cape (hehe that rhymes!). The day was windy so it added a mystical aurora as it gently flew around in the air. Because the cape had the magical ability to make me feel unrestricted and free, it was the only thing i wanted to wear..But as i could not bruise the eyes of sydney and wear a birthday suit underneath, I decided to wear all black underneath (Phew for you lol). Anyways hope you are having an unrestricted free week =) xoxo

@topspeedthai

We have finally paid a visit to Top Speed Thai. It had been on my list of top spots to take Alvina, because I love the food and practically have it at least once or twice a fortnight. The quantities are enormous, and two mains with an entree will definitely leave two people full!

Soft shell crab

Crunchy yet soft and juicy in the inside. The sweet chilli sauce complements the crab so well. The first moment I tried this I became obsessed, but now it’s sorta died down. Thankfully.

Singapore noodles

This is my absolute favourite at this place. Probably 4 out of 5 times I will order this, and still not get sick of it. Every Thai place I go to I check the menu for Singapore noodles, but they never have it. Then again it does seem a little odd to have it though…at a Thai restaurant.

I was so glad Anna took me to this place, because i discovered this dish called “Singapore noodles”, it was so well flavoured but warning: the flavour may accumulate to saltiness later. Overall it was TOP stuff alright..

Massaman chicken curry with Roti bread

The curry is smooooooth and the chicken is so tender it breaks apart with a spoon and melts in your mouth. I’ve actually only had the massaman beef prior to this visit, and enjoyed that thoroughly, so it was no surprise the chicken was just as good.

This curry melted in your mouth whilst allowing supple chicken pieces to add a slight sweetness to the flavour. Usually a lot of places get this curry wrong by making it too sweet but this was just right, perfectly combined with the chewy Roti bread.
