Anna playing stylist: Look Four

Alvina wears:

Valleygirl short coat
TEMT blouse
Pleated skirt from Korea
Lola flats

This is the final look. Again, I went with black & white, because I just wanted a classic look, and as I have mentioned before because Alvina hardly ever doesn't wear colour. Also I added flats just because she also doesn't wear them too often. Haha I feel like when it's her turn to choose outfits for me they are going to be completely out of my comfort zone. Looking forward to it, although it's probably not going to happen for at least a month. At least by then (hopefully) the weather will be more summery.

Anna playing stylist: Look Three

Alvina wears:

Nu + Nan fur vest
See by Chloe shirt
Wrangler jeans
Kasui boots
MNG hand bag

So back to the styling challenge.. on to look three. I was inspired by model street style shots which oozed effortless cool and ease. It is actually the sort of outfit that I would definitely wear on a daily basis, but because I didn't have the knee-high boots and fur vest, I wanted to recreate the look with Alvina's clothes. It's sometimes the simple, lazy outfits that work a charm.

Anna playing stylist: Look Two

Sydney weather has been freezing lately, despite being the 8th day into Summer. Perhaps it's the rain, and soon there will be a change, but whatever the reason, we are all in need for a bit of warmth and sun. Anyway on to the second look from our little role switching!

Valleygirl blazer
Just jeans scarf
BWN dress
Simona Ricci sandals

I didn't even know Alvina had such a dress as i've never seen her wear it, so it was quite a pleasant surprise to come across it in her closet. It's such a perfect floral piece, without being too in-your-face or too bland. Although there are no hints of purple in the dress, I felt the scarf added a nice touch without taking too much away from the pattern.

I don't know why but I think I tend to stay away from too much girliness in one outfit. Even though I am the ultimate girly girl in that I love the colour pink and I fall in love too easily with things that are this colour (the addition of bows will completely have me sold), it doesn't show in the way I dress. Hence, I had to add the dark jacket to toughen it up a bit, but somehow I feel the look works. It's probably time to ditch this strange way of thinking, and embrace girly prints and all out pretty, feminine looks!

It was so fun to put together these looks (there are two more), and I can't wait for Alvina's turn!

Anna playing stylist: Look One

We decided to do something a little different and style each other! Alvina is yet to fiddle around with my wardrobe, but I can say it was definitely quite fun playing around with her clothes, and mixing things together to create outfits that might not have come about otherwise. However it was also quite daunting approaching her closet, as I was unaware of where things were, or even what items she had. So my tactic was to find things that I would wear myself, and how I would go about dressing myself by using her clothes.

Voice of Voices blazer
Tee from Korea
69 jeans
Therapy chain heels

For the first outfit I wanted to try something that Alvina doesn't do too often - not wear colour. So I went with black & white. Usually I dress quite casually, jeans, tee + blazer will do it for me, so with that as a base, I added the strappy stud sandals, rings and bangles.

Tasty goodness

It feels like quite a while since we've updated, so here's a quick little post on what we've been up to!

Our dear friend J prepared this lovely brunch for us~ She is THE number ONE housewifey! If she was a boy, we would marry her instantly !

The pink wine was a quick seller, it was sweet and pleasant matching the fine beams of radiance shining through the day…

The best pear rocket salad we have ever tasted, no joke there. There was a fine balance of balsamic sourness complementing the sweetness of the pears. The rocket lettuce and grated cheddar added that extra crunch..

Photography, Fashion, Food

Although we are quite slow on the updates, we went to 'Shoot the Chef', one of the events held by the Crave Sydney Food Festival, which went for the whole month of October. How? Alvina won tickets! :D It was held in Chifley Plaza, and for the one night, most of the stores had special deals and promotions to accompany the music, food, and art, so it was definitely something to get excited about.

Can’t be a festive night without a bit of bubbles, there was free champagne and unfortunately we did not get drunk enough to get into foolish situations to make this blog more interesting hehe.

Live music is a million times better, the classical string quartet was quite appropriate to enjoy with the echoey spacious halls.

This was one of my favourites, but sadly I didn't quite capture the details as well as I should have. Those badges and emblems on "The General" are actually all kinds of food, as are the small things on the map. I thought it was quite a clever idea!

This was my other favourite. What can I say, just looking at it was pure enjoyment.

The lower floor was filled with people anticipating a pleasant night. If i must comment as a social spectator, it was actually quite a bourgeois affair (aka people trying to be all hosh posh). Why did this image come into mind? As the gentle piano caressed the wide marble floored halls, the brows of narcissistic women were raised and there was gliding of sombre foot steps. I actually didn’t mind this tranquil yet facade like atmosphere but just thought it was hilarious when the crowd transformed from swans to a swarm of hungry elephants when the canapés were served. We eyed a delicate looking breadstick wrapped in proscuitto, and the waiter even saved one for us stating “Do leave that one for the girls”, however the malicious old ladies had no mercy and took every last bread stick…

My favourite pick, i like the expression on his face because it makes me wonder what he is staring at. The rawness of the photo attracts my attention and the lifesaver’s hat definitely adds an extra touch to the colour palette.

The man here is the photographer of the photo behind, which was one of the winning ones.

All eyes of prey leered at these little babies for the whole night.. Tuscan canapés were being served. We found most of them a little too salty yet flavoursome. Which i do prefer rather than blandness.

Sorry for the blurriness, I think something was happening at the time and I couldn't give my full attention to the photo. However you can still see how stunning Pia Anderson looks...so it was a lovely surprise to see her around.

The lovely Pia Anderson, she was a model in one of the finalist’s portrait. She definitely added a vibrance and sweetness to the photograph.

Finished the night off with a bit of sweetness! Overall we had a fun night, admiring the photos, eating several canapes, shopping, talking, drinking, and enjoying each others company.

How to stop yourself from making excessive purchases

Although the title suggests it, this post is not a manual on how to prevent purchases from occurring. However we have discovered a clever little trick which gives us another chance to stop ourselves before it is too late. When we wandered into Sportsgirl, the bright lighting and loud music seemed to hinder our decision making skills, because we wanted many things. Instead of recklessly making our 7th and 10th purchase for the year, we decided to think it through, and took a photo of ourselves with the items. Then we left the store. Afterwards, having looked at the photos, it almost felt like we already had them and our minds decided to accept this as the truth... which means, we didn't get them! Haha probably no big achievement, but with a limited number of purchases, we can't really go around buying whatever we fancy. The items are still nice though, there's no doubt about that.

I think I was mainly attracted to the hints of mustard in the coat, and then the perfect combination of the burgundy floppy hat with the red, brown, and yellow check coat. AND the maroon-brown ankle boots with mustard laces that I spotted at Gorman (which I also didn't get). I've been strong the past couple of weeks! I stopped myself from buying an Alannah Hill jumper (mainly because when I got to the store ONE day later, they had put it back on the floor and sold it although I had put it on hold the day before!) and cardigan (similar to the stripey one above except with dark pink, navy, and white stripes). I've been good :)

Cafe it

We really like to frequent cafes, as it provides us with a comfortable place to eat, chat, and spend the day lounging around. We started the day together but actually split ways and then happened to meet again at night in a cafe! We are truly meant for each other haha :)

Also, Alvina's photo's are practically 'spot the difference' ones. As much as it doesn't seem like it, they really are two different photos.. we think...

Subtitled jacket
Sportsgirl beanie
Marcs sheer white shirt
Dotti skirt
Mimco bag
Peeptoe blue ring
Roberto del carlo suede ankle boots

Ginnette woollen blazer
Rodney Clark shirt
Wrangler jeans
De Lourve heels
Burberry bag

The sole reason for wearing the beanie was to cover my fringe (well flatten actually) because it had been cut recently and was ridiculously short. My dissatisfaction with fringe cuts usually occurs every single time, but this particular time was one of the worst as not only was it short, it was uneven too :(

This outfit was inspired by a British telephone booth and a soldier boy. It seems like the colours red blue and white are drilled into my head. BLOCK coloured heels are the way to go to pull off a simple but chic look! It may seem unnecessary and vain but I did have a fantasy of a block colour heel in each colour…call it what you may..but I call it self expression? (Please don’t laugh)

Our two phones with pink and blue covers! Haha see how much we love our favourite colours :)

Easily amused

It's safe to say that we can probably entertain ourselves for hours on end even if we're not doing anything in particular. This is from our visit to Luna Park. It was spontaneous and out of the blue, but mostly because it's freeee =) Here we are enjoying ourselves and it costing us nothing!

Nope, we didn't take any photos in front of the gate like tourists. Tempted though!

 Haha yep definitely easily amused!

Look at this fat seagull ha! Very confident as well, didn't move even though we were so close. Our oh so interesting encounters with animals.

How pretty is Milsons Point/Luna Park in the evening/night?
